“I can do it mom” - Maya

Just last year, after Maya turned 3, she was still my little baby. I was currently pregnant with Marlee and I wanted to spend as much time as I could with Maya. She wasn’t 100% potty trained yet and she couldn’t quite do things on her own. However, shortly after Marlee was born, Maya grew up right before my eyes. She was potty trained and insisted on helping out! She was making sure that she fit in the role of “big sister.”

This year, she wants to do things on her own. She loves to help me cook, clean, and do laundry. She also insists on helping me with Marlee except for when it comes to changing her diapers. 😂 Last week, I noticed someone was doing the laundry and had no idea who it was. It turns out, it was Maya! She wanted to wash the outfit she wore the day before. I questioned how she learned what to do and which buttons to press. Well, she has been watching me all this time!

Now when it comes to packing her lunch for school, she is very picky! She wants what she wants and it’s not even worth the fight. She doesn’t mind eating the same thing over and over again. Her favorite? Pickles, fruit, and her sandwich. We use Oroweat Organic White Made with Whole Wheat Bread! Perfect for picky eaters, this bread is delicious and has a soft and smooth texture while also providing great nutrition for kids. Also, it features Disney’s Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. She loves it with cheese and Genoa salami.

I truly love watching Maya grow into a strong, independent, and persistent girl. Such great personality traits that will help her in the future. Sometimes our personality clash because we are just alike. She is outspoken and will not allow anyone to tell her that she can’t do something. They say that rebellious girls turn to strong leaders… so I know she will change the world someday! If only I can get a glimpse of her future… now that would be super cool! But until then, I’ll continue to enjoy watching her grow up.
