Not-Your-Ordinary School Year

his post is sponsored by RXBAR, however all opinions are 100% mine.

Let’s face it. It’s been quite a whirlwind for everyone, but current circumstances have challenged me and my family to adapt to whatever is thrown our way. Not only were the kids enrolled at a new school for this year, but we recently had to switch it up to distant learning for Tristan and start homeschooling for Maya until her Preschool opens. Maya goes to a very small private school and will only attend classes a couple of days out of the week.

Thinking back to last school year, Tristan finished out the year online, but since it happened so quickly, we didn’t quite have a concrete schedule to go by. This year, I made a Scary Simple schedule for the whole family to follow to make sure we stay on track and become as productive as we can be.

Speaking of Scary Simple, I’m so excited to be partnering with RXBAR on this post to celebrate the launch of their brand new RX Kids Protein Snack Bars. Keep reading for our daily schedule and how we incorporate RX Kids into our kiddo’s lives.

Here’s a quick breakdown of our schedule:

7am - Wake up and get ready for the day
7:30am - Breakfast
8am to 10am - Academic Learning
10am - Snack
10:30 am to11:30 am - Creative Hour
11:30am to 12:30 pm - Lunch
12:30 pm to 2pm - Quiet Time (Nap/Rest)
2 pm - Snack
2:30 pm to 3:30 pm - Physical Activity
3:30pm to 4pm - Clean Up
4pm to 6pm - Fun Activity
6pm to 7:30pm - Family Dinner
7:30pm - Bath 8:30pm - Bedtime

My husband and I are both working from home and we know this is just a tentative schedule. We recognize that we will need to shift things around during certain days, but overall this is a great schedule for us to follow.

Independence and decision making are very important to our children. We always teach them that they are capable of making their own decisions. One of the things that Maya likes to do is pick out her own snacks. Now, that can be a scary thing to let you kiddo pick out their own snack, but we made it super simple for us. We only buy the foods and snacks that we actually want them to eat. That’s how we are able to control what they snack on.

The kids also have their own basket of goodies in the pantry. Lately, Maya will grab an apple or a fruit bar in the morning for a snack and an RX Kids Protein Bar in the afternoon. They come in 4 flavors (Strawberry, Chocolate Chip, Double Chocolate and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip) and contain 4 core ingredients! Maya has been loving them, and I’m sure your kiddos will too! They’re now available at Walmart and Target, as well as RXBAR’s website. Little does Maya know, her protein bar is a healthy snack. She thinks she’s indulging in a chocolate chip cookie bar. 😂

Make this school year great by creating a good environment for your home! As parents, we tend to stress about things that are out of control. BUT do me a favor and relax. Fix the things you can control. 🙌🏼
